What Christmas is all about

Christmas is about spending time with family from near and far. Christmas is for re-connecting with those you have not seen in months. Christmas is for sharing the best gift of all with everyone you come in contact with...that gift being Jesus.

Christmas this year was so meaningful to me. I enjoyed being with all my loved ones and sharing memories of those who were not able to be with us. This year we reminisced on things that were important to us or what family member would have had fun this year. My memory this year was on my grandpa Lashley. He has been gone 20 years already and every year at Christmas it seems like he is sitting right there in front of the fire place laughing and telling stories. I can vividly see him sitting there. I had a hard time telling about it this year, why, i don't know, but he was close to my heart just like all my other family members. I can only imagine what he was thinking on Christmas morning when I was talking about him. I sure hope that he was smiling and laughing through his think white Santa-like beard!

This weekend is packed full of gatherings and Christmas parties once more. Sunday we are gathering at my Great Grandma Cairns church who has also been gone 20 years on the 29th of December this year. I am sure it will be hard again to talk. Maybe I will just listen to the memories this time. We are having family come from near and far this year. I know for a fact that 6 of them are coming from Canada to be with us. I am excited and anxious to see them again, even though I saw them in September!

I hope that you made memories and will never forget them. These are the memories that help us get through those tough times. So now I close out for the year and go and dry my eyes.

Until next year.....

It's that time....

of the year. The time when families reconnect, friends gather around, and memories are made. That time is called Christmas. I finally was able to get my tree up, decorated and most of the cookies baked. Last Saturday my mom, Grandma and I did our annual tradition of baking cutouts all day and icing them too. This year we only dropped two cookies and no I was not one of them. Now that those are done we are going to do the drop cookies on Sunday. We love getting together, sharing recipes, and laughing together as we bake and make the homes smell good. This year we are baking at my parents house. Next year, someone else.

Another memory and tradition for me is to take my brother shopping for Christmas. We make a night of it. He has his list made, and ideas down with a little help from family members, but mostly he does it all on his own. I take him to the mall, and then to were ever he wants after that. We also usually have dinner out and catch up on life together. I love it when he has fun and also the fact that he likes to do that kind of stuff with me. This year when we got home and settled and I went home, he called me and said thank you and good night and "Oh Lynne, I love you" and the phone hung up. Let me tell you I teared up. It has been a long time since I heard him say it and I knew it was from his heart. I love him just as much.

I hope that you are all able to make memories like this and my wish for you is that you touch someones heart like my brother did this year or that someone touches your heart in the same manner.

Until next time...stay warm and enjoy the love of your family.

Finally....

I am able to sit and up date. I know that I am long overdue and many of you probably thought that i forgot how to post. Lots has happened since the last post. I had a successful interview with Jackson local Assistant Superintendent. Successful enough that he took a copy of my e-portfolio with him. YEAH. I was excited and pleased. Since then I have GRADUATED and have earned my B.S. in Education K-3.

Now that school is completed I am finding plenty of other things to fill my time, such as spending time with the family, baking cookies and other goodies, catching up on house work and of course decorating for the holidays. I can't believe that Christmas is less then 20 days away. I guess that it is a good thing I am done shopping for the family and friends.

Right now I am just trying to have fun and relax, which is something that I have not been able to do in a very long time. I have this feeling that one night I will feel like I am forgetting to do something, like pack my school bag.

Work is going very well. Last week was my first week back to full time since the end of August, so getting back into the swing of things was a little hard, but by Wednesday I had it down pat. We have a new staff member starting tomorrow and another in about two weeks. It will be a change, but with all the changes I have been through in the 12.5 years I have work in the library, I am game for anything and go with the flow. I am excited for both persons to start and hear what they have in store for our building.

That's about it in a nutshell. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with posts and life now that school is over. Hope everyone is happy, healthy and staying warm. Until next time....
