First day

for teachers that is. Today was the first day that we were allowed in the classrooms to set up and decorate for the coming year. We did get quite a bit accomplished today such as, book selves set-up, posters on walls, desks and tables moved around, not once but two or three times, washing the dust away, and so much more. If you are a teacher you know what I mean.

Otherwise today was a good first start for me. I actually get to see and be apart of the set-up for the school year and share ideas and much more. My teacher that I am working under is so nice and helpful and full of ideas, but she was excited to her the ideas that I had as well. Tomorrow night will be the crash course for both of us as we attend a meeting about this semester and all the she needs to do along with all my assignments.

Besides school, my dad and I went fishing last night, just the two of us. It was so nice. It's been a long time since he and spent time together. We had lots of fun as well as lots of laughs. Our first casts were the best, I think. I caught a tree, broke my line and lost my bobber and Dad caught a blue gill about the size of a baby's foot. That was great. Then we just started casting and we were catching bass and bluegill, with no worms, just those fake white things(I don't know what they are called, but you fishermen will understand). We fished till almost 9pm. It was really nice. I hope he and I can do that again sometime soon.

My class reunion was this last weekend, 10 years, YIKES. I guess I can say it was not what I thought it would be. I thought that all the clicks and groups would be over with and we all we be talking and catching up, but I was wrong. There were a few that did talk to me that never talked to me in high school, but all the ones that always talked to me, well it was like we have talked everyday of our lives and that was the part I enjoyed the most. I was surprised at how many married classmates, who was still single like lil' ole me and who had kids and who were expecting their firsts. Of course we took a group picture so when that come I will have to dig out the yearbook and look up those I did not know. the guys were the ones that changed the most and the girls all still looked the same.

Till next time.....

Yeah Team!

Saturday I went and enjoyed watching my brother play softball for the Special Olympics. They did so well that they won their first game 10-2 over Medina and made it to state. The rule is, if you win your first game then you go to state. They then had to play another game and lost that one 15-3...yikes, but it was good. Matt did extremely well batting, and playing 2ND base. He actually tagged someone out. As you can imagine, those of you who know Matt, he was very excited and almost forgot to throw the ball to third, he did but missed a double play just by a few seconds. In Matt's words, "Oh well I tried" and that's what happened.

The rest of the week has been fairly quiet. Not much to report. I am just getting things ready to take to school. I get to start working on my room with my cooperating teacher on Monday. Still excited....i think.

This weekend is my 10 year class reunion and I am going. My best friend, Kristine is going as well and we are planning on having a blast. We chatted on the phone the other night and decided what we were wearing, who was saving what table and all the good stuff. I am mainly going to see who is married, has kids, divorced, and still single and happy like lil'l ole me!

Until Next week.....have a great weekend and good luck to all my teacher friends that started back this week or on Monday!

Let the teaching begin

I found out today that it will OK to teach all of my 14 weeks of student teaching with the same teaching in the same grade. I have been waiting for weeks for this news and well now I am happy. I am excited at the same time I am nervous, because I now know that my last semester of school is approaching me faster then I want it to. 14 weeks YEAH..(starting the 25Th)

In other news I have been tossing around the idea of what I would like to do in the Master field of schooling. Do I get my masters in Education or do I get my Masters in Library Informational Science? I think that I have set my mind to library science. When looking at the big picture, I can see myself either staying where I am at and do the things I like to do, read, program, etc., get a teaching job, or be a school librarian. With a Bachelors in Education and a Masters in Library Science my window of opportunities are wide open.

There are some other things that have come open in the library system, but I need to think about it and pray about it this weekend because the deadline is Friday the 22 of August. Once I make a decision , I will update you all on it.

In other news, not much is happening. Matthew is playing softball and has a big tournament this weekend in Massillon. Dad is coaching the team and is very proud of Matt and the long way he has come since last year. Mom and I are looking forward to our girls morning out this Saturday making cards with a group of friends. and Then Saturday we are having and working the Backpack festival at our church along with Fairhope UMC. Will be lots of fun and I found out there are 207 children who signed up for backpacks in the Louisville area that can't afford to purchase them or their school supplies. Sometime this weekend Mom and I will be making and canning corn and corn salad from the the corn patch. What Fun to look forward too.

Until next time.. have a safe and fun week and weekend.

Quick Post

This has been a busy week. I have been fighting a summer cold, or something to that nature. I am not sure what it was, but I am glad that I am over it.

My mom, grandma and I have been working on cards to take to the Farmer's market this Saturday in Louisville. We will be sharing the table with a friend from church as well. We have also been busy making a special order of anniversary cards for friends of ours too.

August is going to be one of those months as I will be busy getting Fall programming started and planned for work as well as getting those lesson plans and beginning of the year letters and much more for when I start my last semester of student teaching. I am starting to understand when teachers say that August is always busy with school stuff. I guess I better get use to it since I will be in that position sometime soon. I love working at the library but I have to make myself understand that the day will come when I will be teaching in a school and having just as much fun as I do here at the library.
I know in my heart that the right time will come, I just have to trust my instincts and listen to my heart on what God has planned for me in the near future. As Mathew 6:34 says "Don't worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself, today has enough trouble of it's own". I take that verse with me everyday and I hope that you will too. :)

Until next time.......

Complete...but much to do.

Summer reading has come to a close in my book, although we are still collecting slips and handing out prizes till August 2. Oh well. The Big stuff is over and we are liking the fact that we can recollect our thoughts and go through the department and clean up and get it ready for Fall. I am not sure how Megan and Amber feel about Summer Reading Ending, but I am HAPPY!

I am trying hard to work on a proposal for a conference a co-worker and I want to attend and present at in May 2009. I know planning way ahead but they need to be in by August 15th. I am all ready, just waiting on my proof readers to give the OK to submit!

Miss Marianne is coming home tonight from New Hampshire and will be home till August 9th. She is staying with Miss Lauren who had a knee replacement on Monday and seems to be doing well when I talked to her last evening. Please keep her in your prayers.

Like all teachers, I am starting to look ahead and plan some things. I know that I will be student teaching, but all in all I will have charge of the classroom 4 weeks into the semester and that will last for about 9 to 10 weeks till I start to be an assistant to the head teacher. I have lots of ideas and have contacted my teacher and the principal already to let them know my start date and all the necessary information needed. Granted, in between planning school lessons I will also be working and trying to keep house chores and things up as well. I look at it this way, it's only 14 weeks and then I might have a life, till I find that right teaching job.

Not much else is happening. Looking forward to a nice weekend and to making some anniversary cards for some friends that ordered them from me. Of course mom and grandma will be there in toe helping to design and assemble them. I am also enjoying book series that is called Yada Yada Prayer Group, by Neta Jackson. It is a great series about a group of ladies that met at a Women's conference and have developed this prayer group, attend each other churches, hold prayer meetings and gathering for their families at their homes and so much more. The series is really good and brings to perspective how lucky we are to have safe neighborhoods, happy families, and healthy families. Looking for a good book to read....check it out. Book 1 is great but, book 2 is better yet. I personally can't wait to get through all 6 of them....sometime soon.
#1 YYPG—is about grace (“I’m just a sinner, saved by grace”)
#2 YYPG Gets Down—is about forgiveness
#3 YYPG Gets Real—is about redemption
#4 YYPG Gets Tough—is about spiritual warfare
#5 YYPG Gets Caught—is about truth & freedom
#6 YYPG Gets Rolling—is about letting go and reaching out

Sorry that there are no kidisms....have not heard much this week or last. Hopefully I will get some. I will have to have Miss Amber and Miss Megan listen in for some so I can post them next time.

Until then....

Change in plans...

this past weekend I received my scores from ETS, which is where the Praxis tests come from. I needed a 160 to pass my Special Education test so that I can teach children with disabilities as well as typical students. I have had to change my plans due to the fact that I scored a 149. This was the fourth time I took the test and let me say that it was really hard. I took it with two other Walsh students who have also taken the test that many times and they did not pass...So my questioning is that why are the schools not teaching to the Praxis standards like the rest of the Praxis tests that we all have to take and have passed.

After talking with my parents I have decided to keep my focus on what I really want and look for a job in Early Childhood after I complete this upcoming semester. Then I will look to see what I can take to help me pass the Special Education Praxis. I will wait and see what is to come and take care of it when the time comes.

Tonight is the last movie night and the last week for programming for Summer Reading. We, all the librarians at Plain Community Branch is ready for a break.

Until later this week.......Stay cool

A bird...A plane....a Combine???

That is how I started my day with a combine in my way. Dad and Grandpa were harvesting the wheat last night and apparently stopped and parked the combine right in the middle of the driveway so that I could not get out. They of course did not think about Lynne having to get out of the driveway in the morning. Oh well with a phone call to grandpa asking how to get around it without driving in the fields...I was able to get to work with 5 minutes to spare!

Our friends from Illinois left for home on Monday about 5am. That was a fun time.. Grandpa and Grandma were the ones to see them off. We had a great time with them and enjoyed their company as usual. My grandparents are planning on heading that direction this fall , sometime in September after they( Frank and Alice) get home from Alaska in Sept. from their fishing trip. We are always anxious to read their emails and see pics of them fishing on the lodge website.

Work is busy as usual. Today we are having a guy come by the name of Duane Able to draw cartoons for the kids and show them how to draw them as well. Wonder if I will get a super hero from Miss Megan this year????? Amber and I have been working on the weeding list so that Megan can make the final decision on what to keep and not to keep. I will be working on a proposal tomorrow with a co-worker downtown to present at a conference next May . Keep your fingers crossed that it will be a go and we can present and represent the library.
No results yet from my Praxis, Hopefully next weeks post or later this week I can tell you yeah or nay!

Till then, enjoy the beautiful weather.

Fishing, riding, playing

that is what my week has consisted of thus far. I am afraid to know what this weekend will bring. Last week friends of our family came in from Illinois and we have been spending as much quality time with them as possible. On Sunday we went fishing and enjoy being by the pond. We caught lots of fish , 30 bluegill to be exact and about 8 bass. That night we cleaned the fish and are getting ready to have a fish fry this Friday at Grandpa's with everyone.

We have been playing the game corn hole that Matt got for Christmas this year and well that is a fun game. We are getting good at it, but would not want to be in a competition anytime soon. HA.

I have been busy playing tennis, played singles last night at the high school and lost 4-6 and then turned around and won 6-4. I was very tired today from that and am feeling it in my legs. I have also been riding my bike and working up to riding a little more each day, but with the hills on my road, that is a workout. Hope I will be able to build us enough esteem and ride in to the high school and back one night.

I am looking forward to going to Nancy's on Saturday morning with my mom to make a project with stamping supplies that is called Jacob's Ladder. Then I will be able to pick out photos to put on it...may turn out to be a pretty neat gift for someone. Then Sat night I am going to a Graduation party at my cousins for my cousin that lives in Hungry and graduated high school but he and his sister are camp counselors at Camp Carl this summer. Their mother is coming in tomorrow, dad could not get away from work to do so. also this weekend is when Bryan and Robin are coming home from Costa Rica. They have been there for 2 years. It will be good to see them and have them back home for good.

Keep your fingers crossed, my Praxis score will be coming the first of next week. I know mine are crossed.

Till Next time.....
